After nearly five hours of deliberations, Corey Jackson, 26, was found not guilty of first-degree murder of Paul Johnson. He will remain at The Palm Beach County jail though on an open battery charge. The defense council told the judge bond was set in the case but the family had not paid because he was sitting on the murder charge.

During arguments, the prosecutors used testimony from two witnesses who said they watched Jackson call Johnson over and then fight over a woman. The defense argued Riviera Beach police never recovered the murder weapon and if the fight was over a woman, then who was she and why wasn’t she in court?

Family and friend of Jackson broke out in applause as the clerk read the not-guilty verdict, as the family of Johnson sat quiet in the front row.
